Tokyo
Taking pictures where you live usually isn’t exciting or motivating. Part of photography is to see things differently than what we interpret them to be. The experience and the process of photography speaks louder than the quality of equipment or the grandeur of subjects.
Most places are more attractive if you are a tourist, but I would say this is especially true for Japan. There are many unspoken rules and etiquettes which foreigners can be exempt from. Some of Japan’s charm are the orderliness and collective obedience to the cultural codes. Mindlessly following the rules and the life’s instruction manuals is the way of life for most of its people. Any deviation is subject to scrutiny, even if it is conducted in good faith and reason. Sense of humor between strangers is usually nonexistent. It is a very difficult place to live for those who have seen the outside world.
